For over thirty years, American MasterTech has been making histological stains and stain kits to shed new light onto the world of diseases. MasterTech stain kits have become the standard of excellence in laboratories around the United States and this can be seen with the MasterTech's Fite's Stain Kit. American MasterTech Fite's Stain Kit is used to demonstrate diseases such as Leprosy and Nocardiosis in just thirty minutes.
In 1873, Gerhard Armauer Hansen discovered that the bacteria Mycobacterium leprae, a rod-shaped "acid fast" bacteria that only grows in human and animal cells, causes leprosy. Leprosy is a contagious disease that is thought to be passed through respiratory droplets. It can cause damage to the nervous system and the skin, resulting in skin lesions and deformities on the eyes, earlobes, hands, feet, and testicles.
Nocardia is a weakly staining Gram-Positive bacteria that acts like a fungus, but is truly a bacteria. There are currently 85 species of Nocardia known, some being non-pathogenic and others being responsible for the disease Nocardiosis. Nocardiosis is mainly contracted through the inhalation of contaminated dust or dirt that contains the Nocardia bacteria. It can also be contracted through contaminated dust or dirt entering through an open wound. Nocardiosis usually starts in the lungs and eventually spreads to other organs, mainly the brain and the skin, with the most common symptom being slowly progressive pneumonia.
MasterTech's Fite's Stain Kit (Leprosy Stain) Both Mycobacterium leprae and Nocardia can be demonstrated using the American MasterTech's Fite's Stain Kit. The MasterTech Fite's Stain Kit differs from similar kits or procedures in that Advanced Carbol Fuchsin™ (ACF) is used instead of Ziehl-Neelsen Carbol Fuchsin and Light Green is used as a counterstain instead of Methylene Blue. With the Advanced Carbol Fuchsin™ from American MasterTech, no heat is required and staining time is just 30 minutes, since Advanced Carbol Fuchsin™ contains three fuchsin dyes. Light Green is a much better counterstain than Methylene Blue, as it provides higher contrast against the red stained bacteria. Advanced Carbol Fuchsin™ serves as the primary stain, producing red bacteria against a blue background counterstained by Light Green.
The 100ml MasterTech Fite's Stain Kit yields between 53-66 slides and consists of: 100ml of Xylene Peanut Oil, 100ml of Advanced Carbol Fuchsin™, 100ml of Light Green Counterstain , and 1 Pint of 1% Acid Alcohol.
The Pint MasterTech Fite's Stain Kit yields between 211-330 slides and consists of: 2 Pints of Xylene Peanut Oil, 1 Pint of Advanced Carbol Fuchsin™, 1 Pint of Light Green Counterstain, and 2 Pints of 1% Acid Alcohol.
Slide Yields assume maximum slides stained per run, maximum runs per use. Actual Slide Yields may vary.
To insure a diagnostically accurate result, pick up a pack of MasterTech Leprosy Control Slides or Nocardia Control Slides. Each Special Stain Control Slide is prepared using top quality tissue that has been processed with the utmost care. After processing, the tissue is carefully embedded in paraffin blocks, cut at an optimal thickness, and placed on the central region of a Superfrost™ slide.
