The Harris Uni-Core is a disposable multi-purpose sampling tool designed to cut, retrieve, and store cored samples from source materials. They are an ideal tool for tissue processing and forensic applications. Made from polypropylene, the Harris Uni-Core consists of a hollow body with a razor sharp steel cutting tip and a plunger for releasing the punched sample. The Harris Uni-Core is individually wrapped and sterilized by ethylene oxide and can be reused by rinsing the tip with ethanol. The Harris Uni-Core comes in 13 different sizes: 0.5mm, 0.75mm, 1.0mm, 1.25mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mm, 3.5mm, 4.0mm, 5.0mm, 6.0mm, 7.0mm, 8.0mm and can be autoclaved for 20 minutes at 250°F/15 PSI.

The Harris Uni-Core is made to use with the Harris Cutting Mats™ (sold separately), which are available in two different sizes: 7.5 x 6cm and 20.5 x 15.5cm. These versatile, inert, self-healing polyvinyl rubber cutting mats are designed for repeated, extended use and easy maintenance. Each mat offers two usable surfaces and the self-healing characteristics conceals cuts. The Harris Cutting Mat™ may be periodically cleaned with ethanol.

The Harris Uni-Core is very simple to use. First, position the sample on the Harris Cutting Mat™. Remove the protective cap from the Harris Uni-Core with a gentle twisting and firmly hold the Harris Uni-Core in place. Use your available hand to hold the mat and material steady while pushing downward into the sample with a semi-circular rotation until the tip passes through the sample. Note: Do not press on the plunger while cutting. Next, lift the Harris Uni-Core away from the sample and the cut sample will be retained in the cutter tip. To eject the cut sample from the Harris Uni-Core press on the plunger.
