Tissue Fixation is one of the most important procedures in the fields of Histology and Pathology. For over thirty years, American MasterTech has built a reputation as the most trusted name in tissue fixation. American MasterTech offers a wide selection of tissue fixatives in pints, liters, gallons, cubes, as well as pre-filled specimen bottles. American MasterTech also offers low-hazard tissue fixatives that work just like their counterparts, but are safer for you and the environment.
What exactly is tissue fixation? Tissue Fixation allows a piece of tissue and it's cells to be preserved as close to it's living form as possible, so that it can be easily examined. A good tissue fixative will penetrate the tissue and kill it quickly, while preserving the tissue elements, especially the nuclei.
How does the tissue fixative kill and preserve the tissue? First, the tissue fixative disables biomolecules that usually digest or damage the sample. Second, the tissue fixative will kill bacteria and mold that would otherwise colonize the fixed tissue. Lastly, the tissue fixative will stabilize and preserve the fixed tissue's morphology. Keep in mind that you should use a volume of tissue fixative that is at least 15-20 times the volume of the tissue sample for optimum results.
There are many different examples of tissue fixatives in histology that fall into categories such as: Formalin Fixatives, Mercury Fixatives, Alcohol Fixatives, Picric Acid Fixatives, and Special Fixatives. American MasterTech offers a wide array of tissue fixatives, such as 10% Formalin, ExCell Plus (low-hazard Formalin Replacement), Bouin's Fluid, Karnovsky's Fixative, B*5 Zinc or B*5 Mercuric Chloride Fixative, Frozen Section Fixative and Ultrum II Fixative. American MasterTech is the most trusted name in tissue fixation. Now it is your turn to see why.
B-5 Fixative, Mercuric Chloride
B-5 (Mercuric Chloride) is an excellent fixative for lymph nodes, gastric biopsies, and other specimens used in Immunohistochemistry.
B-5 Fixative, Zinc Chloride (Low-hazardous replacement for B-5 Fixative with Mercuric Chloride!)
B-5 with Zinc Chloride contains no mercury to dispose of, no mercury pigment, and just like its counterpart, is an excellent fixative for lymph nodes, gastric biopsies, and other specimens used in Immunohistochemistry.
Bouin's 2000™ (Low-hazardous replacement for Bouin's Fluid!)
Bouin's 2000™ is a pleasant smelling, low-hazardous replacement for Bouin's Fluid. It is a superior tissue fixative and mordanting agent. It contains no Picric Acid and less than 0.1% formaldehyde. No change of procedure required. Trichrome stainswill be brilliant with color while demonstrating crisp nuclear detail.
Bouin's Fluid
Bouin's Fluid is a good lymph node, glycogen fixative or special stain mordant.
Carnoy's 2000™ (Low-hazardous replacement for Carnoy's Fluid!)
Carnoy's 2000™ fixes glycogen, Nissl substance, plasma cells, RNA, and DNA without Chloroform, Methanol, or Mercuric Chloride.
Carnoy's Fluid
Carnoy's Fluid is a good RNA, Nissl Granules, and glycogen fixative. Looking for a
Chloroform free version of Carnoy's Fixative? Try our Carnoy's 2000™.
ExCell Plus™ (Low-hazardous alternative to 10% Formalin!)
ExCell Plus™ is non-flammable, contains no heavy metals and smells pleasent. This amazing tissue fixative firms tissue, and penetrates most tissue specimens as fast as 10% Formalin.
37% Formaldehyde
37% Formaldehyde is a quality non-clogging tissue fixative.
10% Formalin
All MasterTech Formalin and Formaldehyde products are guaranteed excellent quality non-clogging tissue fixatives. Looking for an alternative to 10% Formalin? Check out MasterTech ExCell Plus Fixative.
Hollande's Fixative
Simultaneous tissue fixation and gross calcium demonstration.
Karnovsky's Fixative
A fast penetration fixative used in Electron Microscopy. MasterTech Karnovsky's Fixative is a ready-to-use working strength solution which requires no dilution. Great for lung tissue used in animal inhalation studies.
Optimal Fix™(The Formaldehyde Eliminator!)
Formaldehyde free, Optimal Fix™ presents superior staining with sharp morphological diagnostic detail. Optimal Fix™ is an alcohol based, non-toxic, biopolymerical tissue fixative. Optimal Fix™ penetrates and fixes faster than 10% Formalin. Optimal Fix™ is a great way to eliminate Formaldehyde from the laboratory.
Ultrum II™(The Safer Tissue Fixative!)
Ultrum II™ is non-carcinogenic and non-mutagenic. It is also alcohol free and non-flammable. Ultrum II™ is an excellent tissue fixative for routine or special stains. It is biodegradable for local sewer system disposal. Ultrum II™ is biocidal, virucidal, and fungicidal, yet is virtually odorless.
Zamboni's Fixative
Zamboni's Fixative is wondeful for ER or PR immunostains and Electron Microscopy.
